Creative Writing

I am an aspiring author and business writer/travel blogger. I am also an advocate of online business and own and operate this website: thai-nomad.com. In my experience, there are few jobs in the world that can give the same level of freedom afforded to that of the internet entrepreneur. In every corner of the globe people are working remotely on the internet, from freelance graphic designers and bloggers to artists and photographers and owners of online stores.

If – like most people on the planet, you have no product to sell, or are somewhat lacking in the digital skills department, fear not. Affiliate marketing offers anyone the chance to make money online. You don’t need a product, and you can develop your digital skills along the way. Affiliate marketing is a simple strategy  where you sell another  companies product or service in exchange for earning a commission.

Owning and running a successful affiliate website can not only free up your valuable time for things like travel and  family – it can also, in my case, free up my time for writing.

I love writing. I love the satisfaction I get after completing anything I set out to write. From website content and articles I have written to fiction and prose and poetry. Writing is my passion and it doesn’t matter whether I’m working on my website or working on my book – I like to create, regardless of the subject matter.

As an aspiring author, writing content for my affiliate sites has been good writing practise for me over the years. It has helped me develop my writing style which in turn has helped me create and develop a 75,000 word novel titled ‘Only Raising dust on The Road’. I am currently in the process of re-writing and editing my book

The first Part of my book/novel (novella – approx. 25,000 words in Part 1) is available for download at Amazon in Kindle format.

Only Raising Dust On The RoadPart 1 – Buckfast, Lager, & Fags.
A work of fiction – set in Thailand.

The story is set in Thailand and told from a multiple character first-person point of view,  hence the different names above each of the excerpts below.

Affiliate website marketing for writers – Getting Started
If you are interested in writing and are looking to free up some of your valuable time to pursue a career in writing, then affiliate marketing is something that you should consider. Writing content for your website will help you develop as a writer and once you have your website up and running and generating (passive) income  you can sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labour by doing what I have done and write a novel.

Creating and setting up a website these days has become much easier with programs such as WordPress – a free open-source content management system which allows you to construct easy and effective websites quickly without the need for specialised web design skills.
‘for more on WordPress see my blog post here

Have a look on youtube for WordPress design tutorials – there are loads of them. A recommended hosting solution would be SiteGround –  one of the few WordPress recommended web hosts, and the hosting solution I use for thai-nomad.

Recommended reading and a good source of inspiration for taking the plunge into internet entrepreneurship is The 4-Hour Work Week: Escape the 9-5, Live Anywhere and Join the New Rich by Tim Ferriss.

This online sensation spent more than 4 years on the ‘New York Times Bestseller list’ and  has been translated into 35 different languages. The book has become the online entrepreneurs ‘Handbook’ and is considered essential reading for many in the digital nomad community. The 4-Hour Work Week by Tim Ferriss can be purchased online at Amazon.

Note: All companies that I endorse on this website are quality companies that I personally use. SiteGround – the web hosting company that I recommend on this page are the company that I use for thai-nomad. They are a quality company with  an excellent reputation and are a great choice for the beginner. If you have found this webpage helpful and are considering setting up a website, then I would be much obliged if you could click through to SiteGround on my links so that I may receive a commission.

I wish you well in all of your endeavours.

Chok Dee (good luck)… Ray (thai-nomad)
